Artist Statement

My work focuses on interpreting disjointed narratives utilizing home movies as a source material. I recollect these disassociated events by deconstructing the nuclear family. I take this audio and create a new association, a reformed narrative.  I utilize different medium’s such as audio, sculptural installation, performance, and image collage giving a language for these sound prints. The audio works have a unique symphonic imprint, and each sound piece  relates to  sculptural portraits.  I’ve processed these events over the years through a mental retrieval. This series is an autobiographical narrative through collaging past events recorded on 1990’s home movies pre-Hurricane Katrina and transposed into multimedia "portraits."

Shane Elliot Bowers is a audio perfomer and sculptor, based in Chicago, Illinois — but I'll take any opportunity to travel!

When I'm not performing, you'll find me working in the LGBTQ+community , teaching,  working on new music, and creating.

Always experimenting with new techniques, I'm equally comfortable with analog and digital technologies, and use both according to the needs of the project.
